Bitvise
Bitvise is Windows only!
The application described on this page is only available on Windows.
Bitvise is an easy-to use graphical SSH and SFTP Client that is approved for open and restricted data use in UF's IRM Fast Path Solutions.
Download and install the Bitvise SSH Client on your Windows computer.
SSH Connections¶
- Open Bitvise.
- In the settings window, enter the following information in the corresponding boxes:
- Host: hpg.rc.ufl.edu
- Port: 22 (or 2222 if using an SSH Key).
- Username: your HiPerGator username
- Initial method: Select: "Keyboard-interactive"
- Click the "Log in" Button
- On the User Authentication window that opens, enter your password and click "OK".
- A second User Authentication window will open, with the options for Duo. The formatting is lost, but the options are to enter a six-digit passcode (from a token or the application), or enter the number corresponding to the method you want to use to authenticate.
- Depending on your configuration, you may need to click the "New terminal console" button to get a terminal.
Configuration tips
- Use the "Save profile as" button to save the configuration for easier access next time.
- In the "Options" tab, select to Open Terminal "On first login" to have a terminal automatically open when you connect.
- While Windows doesn't support SSH Multiplexing, as long as you keep it open, Bitvise will open multiple terminals without the need to authenticate again.
SFTP Connections¶
- Log in as above.
- Return to the main Bitvise window and click the "New SFTP Window"
-
In the window that opens, your local computer is on the left, and HiPerGator is on the right. Drag and drop back and forth to upload and download.
