New HiPerGator Account Request with a GatorLink account¶
Warning
This documentation is only for current UF GatorLink account holders. See Affiliated GatorLink documentation for external users.
A prospective user with a University of Florida account (GatorLink) can proceed directly to the HiPerGator Account Request Form to request a new HiPerGator account.
Account Request Form Submission¶
- Choose the sponsor from a list. If the sponsor is not present on the list ask them to establish a sponsor account on HiPerGator and obtain resources. You cannot proceed with an account request until then. Refer to eligibility criteria for pre-requisites.
- Select the checkbox to confirm that you 'agree to comply with the acceptable use policy'.
- Submit the form.
Once the form is submitted a support ticket will be created for the account request and an email asking for a confirmation will be sent to the sponsor.
Account Request Processing¶
-
When an account request is received, UFIT Research Computing staff will contact your sponsor to approve your access to the sponsor’s investment; the account will not be created until verification is received.
-
Upon sponsor verification, the account will be created. You will receive an email with the information you need to access UFIT Research Computing facilities. The process generally takes 1-3 business days once the confirmation from the sponsor is received.
Reasons for Delay¶
The most frequent reason for a delay in account creation is the lack of response from the sponsor or designated group manager who must confirm or deny the account request before we can take action. They can do this by going to the support system link in the email or by replying to the email. If account creation is delayed the most common reason is that the sponsor has not replied to the confirmation email. Contact the sponsor to verify that they received the email. If they didn't it may be necessary to check the spam folder or that the email for the sponsor in our database is valid. Our system will only accept email replies from the address in our user database.
The second most frequent reason for a delay is inactive group status usually due to the lack of allocated resources. As described in the eligibility criteria only active groups with at least minimal resources required by the policy can add new users.
